The Vision, Purpose and Statement of Faith for Bangor Community Church
Our vision for BCC is to set up a centre for the city of Bangor and reach all the areas of the community, which would include, Crèche, After school clubs, Youth Events, Senior citizens, plus we believe God would have us involved with the "undesirables" like the homeless and those involved with crime, drink and drugs, in it all showing God's love and sharing His word and promises.
We are also believing for a training centre where people can be trained and be discipled alongside Pastors and the Leaders with the vision to work out in the community, or whatever calling God has placed on their lives.
It is great to have a vision but are we actually doing anything with it? Have a look around our website and we hope that you'll see echoes of our vision resounding through it.

- “Love your neighbours”

His name
Statement of Faith
We believe that the Bible was written by men, who were divinely inspired by God to bring a record of His revelation to mankind. As such, it is God’s word to the world, speaking to us with authority and without error. It is the supreme standard by which all human behaviour, ideas and opinions should be tried.
God
We believe that there is one living and true God, who exists and has revealed
himself to us as three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each person being
fully God, but each with distinct personal attributes and primary functions in
relating to the world. He is a personal being, the creator, preserver and ruler
of the universe, existing outside of the constraints of time and space. He is
infinite in all aspects, being all-powerful, all knowing, all-loving and
present everywhere at the same time.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal
Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He
identified completely with mankind yet without sin. He died on the cross,
thereby making provision for the redemption of mankind from sin. He was
raised from the dead with a glorified body. He ascended into heaven and is now
exalted to be with the Father, where he lives to be the One and only Mediator
between God and man. He will return in a personal and visible way, in power and
glory, to judge the world and to complete his redemptive mission.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the spirit
of God, whose work is to manifest the active presence of God in the world,
especially in the church. He is the one who indwells the believer, bringing new
life, sanctification, revelation, guidance, direction, assurance, teaching,
understanding and power for service. In the church as a whole, He brings unity
and edification as both the fruit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are manifest.
Man
We believe that man was created by God in His
own image. In the beginning he was a perfect creation, but made the willing
chose to rebel against God, thus bringing sin into the world and causing a
spiritual darkness to fall over man, himself and the physical world in which he
lives. The universal sin, nature, and guilt of fallen man breaks the fellowship
and intimacy God intended to have with him and also makes man subject to God’s
wrath and condemnation. Left in this state, man faces the certain future of
eternal separation from the presence of God.
Salvation
We believe that by the grace of God, through
the life and work of Jesus Christ, salvation is offered freely to all who
accept him as Lord and Saviour. In general terms, salvation includes the
following:
- Repentance: a genuine turning away from sin towards
God
- Faith: the acceptance of Jesus Christ, turning to Him in
trust and dependence, surrendering to Him as Lord and Saviour.
- Regeneration: an act of God in which he impart new
spiritual life, thus restoring fellowship and intimacy between himself and
man
- Justification: a legal declaration in which God
declares the believer to be righteous in His sight, not on the basis of
good works, but in response to faith.
- Adoption: an act of God in which he makes the believer a
member of His family.
- Sanctification: the progressive work of the Holy Spirit
causing the believer continual deliverance from the power of sin and to
change into the likeness of Christ
- Glorification: the believer faces the certain future of
receiving a resurrection body at the return of Christ and thereafter,
remaining in union with Christ for eternity.
The Church
We believe that the church is the community of
all true believers and exists as Christ’s representative on earth, as such, the
church exists as His body under the authority of his headship. Within this
framework God:
- Appoints leaders to govern the church with love and
humility, doing so with serving hearts, submitting their lives to one
another.
- Establishes various ministries in order to
build the church in to a place of maturity.
- Imparts priesthood to each member of the church, making it
possible for each one to enter into His presence through the mediation of
Christ alone and also to be a channel through which the Holy Spirit
edifies the whole church through the manifestation of spiritual gifts. The
effective functioning of each member causes the church as a whole to be
built up and extended.
The mission of the church is primarily to
communicate the presence and purposes of God by its members being disciples of
Christ while at the same time, making disciples of all people.
The two ceremonies the churches, as commanded
by Christ are:
- Baptism: by immersion, administered once to those who give a
believable profession of faith in Jesus Christ, as a sign of the beginning
of a person’s Christian life.
- The Lord's supper: believers share the bread and wine
together, observed repeatedly as a sign of continuing in fellowship with
Christ and one another.
