Meas-G outreach plant - Sunday services, Breakfast Club, Rock Solid groups and more!

Maesgeirchen (commonly known as Maes-G) is a large housing estate on the outskirts of the city of Bangor, and home to about 3000 people. The estate is one of the largest in N Wales, and over the years it has often been singled out as one of the most deprived estates in the area, with high crime and unemployment rates.

Bangor Communtiy Church has been actively working on the estate for several years. Originally helping to run a Crusader group in the area, we started our own youth club in the late 1990's named Kanvas with the vision to reach the young people of the estate, share the gospel with them, and offer an opportunity to respond in a non threatning environment.

It didn't take long to realise that 2 hours of games and entertainment   a month wasn't enough, and so in   September 2000 we planted a church on the estate meeting in the building of Eglwys y Groes (the local anglican church who we work   very closely with).

The church currently meets on alternate sunday nights from 6 until 7pm. Although mainly aimed at young people, anyone is warmly invited to come along to learn why and how   we should worship God   and what His desire is for us. A typical meeting includes lively songs, some games, and a short interactive talk.

Alongside the Sunday services we have Rock solid groups for those young people that show an interest in knowing more about God, and a breakfast club for those that jsut want to let off steam and have lots of food and fun!

We meet with Eglwys y Groes 4 times year for a joint service on a Sunday morning (usually the 5th sunday - but please check the diary for latest info), and we also pray together for the estate one the first Thursday of the month at 7.30pm.We have run 2 alspha courses in conjunction with Eglwys y Groes.

Over the years we have seen God touch the lives of many young and old people on the estate, many of them from broken or abusive homes. We believe that seeds have been planted, and pray that God will keep watch over them until He briungs them to Himself.

We continually pray that God will cover this work and open up many doors to see the young old, good and bad come to Him. Ultimately it is our desire to see the church plant grow and be led by the local community as we see the estate transformed for Jesus.
